Flaming Sword Kits available for a limited time

Flaming Sword Kit by Amy Luna
as seen in the DVD "By Dancers For Dancers, Volume 1"

While cleaning out my closet, I found some extra flaming sword kits leftover from when I taught my flaming sword workshop at the Crucible's Fire Arts Festival a couple of years ago. The effect is a 4-5 inch flame that stays lit on the very tip of the end of your sword while you dance,

To view a photo of the effect go to http://www.amyluna.com/flamingsword.jpg

To view a video of the effect, go to http://www.amyluna.com/bdfd1.html

Simple, safe, portable, and with no modifications to your precious sword. Quick and easy prep makes this a dancer's dream when hurriedly preparing for your show in that cramped dressing room. Everything you need for dozens of performances. Also includes tips on costume and fire safety, of course.

Testimonial:
"Thank you so much for the wonderful "flaming sword" workshop. I hadn't had the nerve to try it out until last Sunday at our student night at El Morocco. Everyone enjoyed it & the flame stayed flamed up the entire performance. It was too cool & I'm so glad it worked - your instructions & tips were great!" - Malilka

$40 + $3.50 s & h

please email me or Paypal me at amyluna@amyluna.com if you are interested. I don't know when or if I'll make more kits and I'm getting ready to travel out of the country for a few months so...get 'em while they're hot 'cause when they're gone, they're gone! Good luck!

I'm trying to find some resources on teaching basic bellydance steps to girls ages 10-14. Does anyone know of any resources/methods that work well? We're learning some basic moves as part of a lesson on MidEast music and dance in our music classes. Thanks!

Turkish Roman and Bellydance Class with Elizabeth Strong

Hello Fellow Dancers!

I am pleased to announce that I will be teaching another class series beginning this Monday, April 16th.

The format of this one will be different from last time and will also include belly dance (basic to mid-level - I'd love folks with relatively little training to be able to feel at ease, but also be able to keep up with and challenge those at intermediate and even advanced levels). Definately a hearty amount of isolation and repetition, with some choreography at the end of each class.

Here are the details:

Spring Fall Studio
2547 Eighth St., Berkeley
Mondays 4/16-5/21 (6 weeks)
8-9pm Belly Dance
9-10pm Turkish Roman Dance

1 class drop-in $11
2 class drop-in $20
6 class package $60
Series $108 (a purty good deal!)

for any other info, please visit my website at www.strongdancer.com

Hello ladies. I am a tribal dancer from Toronto Canada and I will be visiting San Fran on Sept 27 to Oct 1st. My guy will be attending a conference so I have all my days for myself. I am looking for workshops, classes, or shows during that period. I can also perform (tribal or fusion) Got any fantastic ideas? I am also looking for bellydance shopping and "things you must see" in San Fran. Any clues will help, Thanks a lot,
Fantasy Festival this weekend

This weekend brings us the 4th (and correct me if I'm wrong about that!) annual Fantasy Festival, hosted by Tatseena and Good Vibrations, in San Leandro, CA.

It's definitely one of my favorite festivals of the year---it's a nice size, dancers are invited/juried/proposed, live music, lots of different vendors, workshops, good food, and very affordable all around, with a very friendly crowd. And you get to see a little bit of everything---cabaret, tribal, folkloric, fusion, and everything in-between. And it's also one of the few pan-style dance festivals in our area that's been steadily growing in size AND attendance since it's inception---so if you haven't been, come find out why :)

Here are the quick details...more info, including directions, workshop info, performance schedule and more can be found at http://www.tatseena.com

BELLY DANCE FANTASY FESTIVAL

October 8th & 9th, 2005

Saturday, Oct 8th, 1:00pm - 8:00pm & Sunday Oct 9th, 12:00pm-6:00pm ~ ADMISSION - $10.00, Children 16-5 $5.00
San Leandro Marina Community Center, San Leandro CA

See you there! I'll be vending in the center with corset belts, skorsets, art, and other goods, with the fabulous Anaar, who also has wicked cool fusiony stuff!

This is posted on behalf of a good friend/mentor and Instructor in Sacramento:

Serious Dancers Wanted!! Please respond ASAP!

Ok, so if you haven't heard I am putting together a folk dance group. Several people have been asking me through the years when I will be active again and when there will be classes. I hope this answers everyones questions. Listed below is a brief description of an ongoing project that I am very excieted about. It will allow opportunities for people to have continued growth experience. Short term or individual classes I will be assisting the Kali Ma with during SCA events as funds raisers only.

Here are some details below. Please contact me via LJ or preferably via phone if you are interested. I would like to conduct interviews and our first group meeting by the end of October. Please respond by early October for additional details if you are interested or have questions.

We will be focused on learning and performing Dances or Music from the Middle East, Asia and Africa that are Folk or Folk Fusion or Tribal in essence. I will assist in primary dance instruction however, additional classes and instructors will be part or our growth and developemnt. We will not be demonstrating American Tribal or Cabaret Dances.
Our goal will be the obvious exercise benefits but also a social group that can be used as an educational demonstration and personal development and exploration. Performance locations will be determined by group selection and classes will very depending on group development. Fees will not be charged for classes however, every dancer will be responsable for his/her own costuming or possible event expenses. Guest instructors may bill their own fees and would be optional.

Requirements-
1. Dance or Performance experience preferred, however NOT required.

2. I am looking for volunteers who are able to make a weekly commitment or possibly more depending on the performance listings the group elects.

3. Every participant should be interested in long term commitment of this project. Performance developemnt of each individual will be encouraged and required.

4. Many dance forms will be studied, an open mind for development is a must.

5. Positive attitude and social encouragement will be required.

6. Every participant should have availability to practice in their offtime. Homework of additional classes may be assigned as necessary.

7. Participants must be 18 years of age Male or Female.

What defines fusion?

Where do you think the line must be drawn between *bellydance* fusion and just plain fusion? When does it cease to be bellydance? And what really defines bellydance, anyway?
Just wondering...
